<p>A process for treating water comprising adjusting the pH of the water to 4.5 or less, removing carbon dioxide from the water, filtering the water through a filter bed containing aluminium and adjusting the pH of the filtered water following filtration. The process produces water that meets current guidelines for the physical quality of potable water. The treated water is suitable for general domestic use, but should be sterilised if it is to be used for drinking. Apparatus for carrying out the process is also described.</p> |
