An air pressure balancing device is mounted inside a tubeless tyre on a rim. The device consists of an air pump which acts in a radial direction and has a connection to atmosphere through the rim. Pump operation is by a plunger the upper face of which sits just below the tyre tread inner surface in the unloaded condition. An excess pressure valve is provided in the tyre interior and is pre-set to a given value. Both the air pressure setting and the pump length can be adjusted. USE/ADVANTAGE - Balances and maintains a pre-determined air pressure in a tyre which is subject to various load conditions and temp. changes. Even tyre wear is ensured and the tyre can be driven even when punctured by e.g. a nail.
