<p>A portable system (10) for reworking the inside diameter of heavy oil field casing (11), and especially casing that has irregularities on the inner surface thereof that render the casing unsuitable for use in deep wells. A cutting head assembly (14) is rotated as it is forced into the interior of a section of casing. The cutting head assembly (14) includes a mandrel (32) which turns a special cutter device (19) having a plurality of cutters (73) for engaging and cutting the inner wall of the casing (11) as the entire cutter head (14) is forced to travel through the casing (11). Alignment members (18) and (20) attached to the mandrel (32) on either side of the cutter device (19) maintain the longitudinal axis of the cutters (73) in proper alignment to produce the desired new pipe inside diameter. After the first half of the pipe is sized or trued, the joint of casing is reversed and the other half is cut to the same new desired inside diameter.</p> |
