CARRIER FOR ELECTROPHOTOGRAPHY AND PRODUCTION THEREOF

PURPOSE:To decrease the apparent sp.gr. of the carrier and to prevent the destruction of microcapsule toners at the time of agitation by using a microballoon-shaped resin carrier. CONSTITUTION:This carrier 1 for a developer consists of the microcapsule toner and the carrier and is formed to the microballoon shape by using the resin 2 (e.g.styrene/butyl methacrylate compolymer). This carrier 1 is produced by dispersing a hydrophobic solvent (e.g.diethyl ether) contg. the components consisting of the resin 2 and a magnetic material 3 (e.g. magnetite treated of a titanate coupling) to be added at need in an aq. medium and heating up the dispersion to vaporize the hydrophobic solvent. The sp.gr. of the hydrophobic solvent liquid is preferably made smaller than the sp.gr.of the aq. medium in this case.
