PURPOSE:To increase the sealing performance of a dry cell by interposing a sealing member, which contains a swelling agent that swells a thermo-contractile resin tube extending above a sealing body, between the said thermo-contractile resin tube and a positive terminal plate. CONSTITUTION:A positive mixture 4 is packed into a zinc can 1, with a separator 2 interposed between the can 1 and the mixture 4, and a carbon bar 6 is pressed and fitted into the center of the mixture 4. At the same time, the opening of the can 1 is sealed with a sealing body 7 made of polyethylene. Next, the outer wall of the can 1 is covered with a thermo-contractile resin tube 8, which is heated and contracted so that the upper end of it extends up above the sealing body 7. Then, a sealing member 11 containing a swelling agent such as chloroform, which swells the resin tube 8, is applied above the top surface of the tube 8. After that, a positive terminal plate 12 is attached to the head of the bar 6, and the opening of an exterior can 14 is caulked by interposing an insulating ring 13 between the can 14 and the periphery of the plate 12. Consequently, the preservation performance of a dry cell can be increased by increasing the sealing performance of the cell widely. |
