Cathodic protection of ship parts - with sacrificial anode held in cage clamped between parts to avoid loosening of anode and possible disconnection
摘要
Device for cathodic protection of metal surfaces immersed in sea water consists of a sacrificial anode (8) which is partially encased in a holding cage (10). The cage has a tong-like elongation (10.1) which can be clamped in position between components of the part being protected. The propeller shaft has a bush (2) provided with a flange (6) for the propeller casing (3). The tong-like extension (10.1) is clamped between the flange and casing with a water seal (7). USE/ADVANTAGE - Protecting the stem tube seal of a ship. As only the exposed surface of the anode is worn away, the connection to the ship does not loosen. This leads to a longer protection time.
