The piston valve two stroke IC engine has inlet and outlet posts (9, 12) located in the cylinder wall (6). The inlet slots are partly provided with highly-porous metallic inserts (13, a), the end faces (14) of which are aligned with the cylinder wall. The inserts have passage channels (16), which are inclined in direction of the cylinder wall circumference. USE/ADVANTAGE - Two-stroke IC engine. Optimization of inlets without detrimental effect on piston rings.
