PURPOSE:To improve driving efficiency by setting the width of contact face between a mover and an elastic body (the width in the direction perpendicular to the advancing direction of vibration wave generated in the elastic body) shorter than the width of the elastic body in same direction. CONSTITUTION:An ultrasonic motor comprises a piezoelectric body 1b, a stator 1 having an elastic body 1a for generating an advancing vibration wave upon excitation through the piezoelectric body 1b, and a mover 20 pressure contacting through a contact face 22c with the elastic body 1a and being driven by the advancing vibration wave. Width (a) of the contact face 22c of the mover 20, i.e., the width in the direction perpendicular to the advancing direction of the advancing vibration wave, is set shorter than the width (b) of the mover body 21 in same direction. Consequently, the difference of frictional driving force between the inner dismeter side and the outer diameter side of the contact face 22c can be neglected. By such arrangement, droppage of driving efficiency due to slip between a slider member 22 and the elastic body 1a can be minimized. |
