A caustic burning compsn. for blinding the optical outlooks of armour plated vehicles comprises (a) an initiator system contg. hydrogen fluoride for activating the splitting off of fluoride ions (b) a caustic agent for glass of least one inorganic fluorine cpd. liberating fluoride ions at above 100 deg. C (c) pref. a turbidity agent for glass of at least one inorganic cpd. and (d) an adhesive and viscous burning material comprising a burnable organic polymer and a pref. burnable organic solvent or a burnable/nonburnable organic solvent mixture. The polymer may be a polyester, polystyrene, polyvinyl nitrate, polyvinyl acetate or a butadiene polymer or copolymer. USE/ADVANTAGE - The compsn. is inert under normal conditions, has high storage stability but is effective in destroying sight from armour plated vehicles.
