Device for coding information of the image type, represented, on the one hand, by input signals intended to be transmitted and/or stored after data rate reduction and, on the other hand, by first information relating to the movement between these signals, the said device comprising a coding stage (220). This device also comprises, for processing the said input signals, which correspond to the chrominance component: (a) a stage (205) called spatial filtering stage; (b) a stage (250) called stage for estimating movement by identical blocks, these blocks being bounded by or within the said batches of information of the said defined rank, on the basis, on the one hand, of the current input signals to be processed and, on the other hand, of the signals processed during the preceding processing cycle, and also of the said first movement information, the said stage being intended to deliver second movement information; (c) a stage (240) called stage for prediction on the basis, on the one hand, of the said previously processed signals and, on the other hand, of the said second movement information, the said stage being intended, for the purposes of the coding, to deliver signals corrected by the said second movement information; (d) a stage called stage of selection of the signal to be coded.
