The rear view mirror has a mirror glass , secured around its edge to a housing (1) which is mounted on the vehicle via a holder (11, 12, 13), allowing the adjustment of the housing (1) about two perpendicular axes. One pivot bearing is provided by the free end of the holder (11, 12, 13), with the adjustment effected via a pair of electric setting motors and the second pivot bearing provided by the frame (6) supporting the 2 setting motors. Pref. the holder (11, 12, 13) comprises a circular rod (11) attached to the vehicle body and a 2-part shell (12, 13) clamped around this rod (11). ADVANTAGE - Reduced vibration of mirror surface.
