The invention concerns steel, especially for turbine blades of the next to last or last series of low-pressure rotors of steam turbines and possibly other structures subject to the highest corrosion effects and significant mechanical load. It concerns martensitic nickel-chromium steel with addition of other alloying additives, with very low content of manganese and sulphur. The maximum content of manganese is 0.12%, the lower content of manganese is bound to the content of sulphur and must be at least thirty times the sulphur content.
