PURPOSE:To reduce the number of shift codes to reduce the data volume by deleting shift codes unnecessary for communication to perform communication. CONSTITUTION:A shift code discriminating part 2 discriminates whether input data is a shift code or not; and when it is a shift code, the shift code is reported to a shift code deleting part 3. The shift code deleting part 3 discriminates whether the reported shift code is a shift code (AS code) from KANJI (Chinese character) to a normal character or a shift code (KS code) from a normal character to KANJI. When input data is AS code but is not used as a KANJI code, only the character is reported to a compressed data output part 4; but when it is the AS code and is used as a KANJI code, the shift code and the inputted character are reported to the compressed data output part 4. Thus, the increase of the data volume is prevented though switching between the KANJI code and the normal code is frequent. |
