The batteries include floors which are subdivided into at least two independent compartments, the compartments of each floor having access doors located on opposite walls. For discharge, the batteries are arranged on the elevator platforms of the slaughter houses, with the doors of the compartments on both sides facing adjacent work stations. The facing compartments of consecutive batteries are accessible from the same work station, whilst the compartments opposite the end batteries are accessible by one operator who moves from one to the other of the end work stations. <IMAGE>
