The solution concerns a method of linear marking of fibrous belt-shaped material for production of folds with the same arm length. In the marking process the material lies in one plane and in this plane after each marking it is shifted by one step in the same direction, by a half the length of the two neighbouring arms. At first the even bending edge between the end of the first arm and the beginning of the second arm is marked. Then, at a distance corresponding to the length of the second arm from the first even bending edge in the movement direction the first bending edge on the beginning of the first arm is marked. Then, in the length of the two neighbouring arms from the first bending edge against the movement direction the second bending edge is marked, between the end of the third arm and the beginning of the fourth arm. Finally, at the length of one arm from the second even bending edge in the movement direction the second uneven bending edge is marked, which is positioned between the end of the second arm and the beginning of the third arm. This procedure is constantly repeated. It will be used in production of folds made of filtration material.<IMAGE>
