NEW MATERIAL:Physiologically active substance originating from malt which is obtained by saccharifying malt, filtering, extracting the residue with water or an aqueous solvent and eliminating the low molecular fraction from the extract: molecular weight, more than 2,000; coloring reaction: positive to the phenol-sulfuric acid reaction and copper-Fehling's reaction. USE:Medicine such as antithrombotic, antiischemic, or anti-inflammatory or functional food. It has action to inhibit blood platelet coagulation and increase red blood cell deformation with high safety and no toxicity. PREPARATION:Crushed malt of barley or the like is saccharified together with warm water and filtered. The filtration residue is extracted with water or an aqueous solvent, the extract is neutralized to remove the precipitate. The resultant supernatant is subjected to dialysis, ultrafiltration and other treatments to remove the low-molecular fraction of less than 2,000 molecular weight and collect the fraction of more than 2,000 molecular weight. |
