PURPOSE:To enhance reproducibility, whiteness and storage stability even in any density region by providing an intermediate layer based on pigment with specific oil absorbancy and containing a specific alkaline pigment within a specific range between a support and a recording layer. CONSTITUTION:An intermediate layer based on pigment with oil absorbancy of 80cc/100g or more is provided between a support and a recording layer and, further, alkaline pigment with pH8 or more is contained in the intermediate layer within a range of 0.1-25% by wt. of said main pigment. As the alkaline pigment, magnesium carbonate is especially pref. used because it can adjust the pH of the coating solution of the intermediate layer to a proper region by the addition of a small amount and is excellent in effect forming a coating layer wherein the bulkiness of the oil absorbable pigment being the main component constituting the intermediate layer is kept proper. A binder is added to the coating solution constituting the intermediate layer but the addition ratio of the binder is about 5-30 pts.wt. per 100 pts.wt. of the pigment and the coating amount of the coating solution to the support is set to about 2-35g/m<2> on a dry basis. |
