A membrane (10) for separating liquid mixtures of substances (16) consists of an expansible elastomeric polymer (11) or a mixture of polymers, in which a membrane-stabilizing support (14) is incorporated substantially parallel to the surface (13) of the membrane. The membrane (10) has an inlet side (17) and a permeate side (18). In order to separate the mixture of substances (16) by pervaporation, the support (14) is constructed as a woven mesh which, on the permeate side, is displaced asymmetrically from the direction of flow (15) of the mixture of substances (16) through the membrane (18).
