The application in this patent relates to an optical/electronic equipment which detects the opening and closing condition of the eyelids of an eye. This status is detected using infrared transmitting and receiving diodes located in proximity to the eyeball in such a way that the wave bundle emitted by the transmitting diodes is modulated by the position of the eyelid. A suitable electronic circuit determines the status (position) of the eyelid on the basis of the energy reaching the receiver diodes. The prototype comprises an electronic screen and a spectacle mount. This equipment which is designed to detect the closure of the eyelid can be used to determine the state of wakefulness of an individual for the control of generic devices through movement of the eyelids and as a help to handicapped persons for the above.
