A conformable dressing such as a first-aid dressing or a ward dressing comprises a polymeric foam absorbent layer (2) having a liquid impervious moisture vapour permeable backing layer (3) and o n the body facing surface, a discontinuous layer of adhesive (4), the thickness of the absorbent layer at the margins (22) of th e dressing being substantially less than that of the layer between the margins (21). The adhesive may be applied directly to the foam o r may be applied to an intermediate discontinuous layer (5) such as a polymer net which itself is laminated or bonded to the foam absorbent layer. |
