The invention relates to a circuit for transforming light signals into electrical signals. In this circuit, the element for detecting and quantizing the light PHI e and for amplifying the corresponding current is a field-effect transistor 7 made from a photosensitive group III-V material such as GaAs. The light flux is applied to the gate region of the transistor 7, by means of an optical fibre. An electric bias voltage E on the gate forces the transistor to operate in the linear region, without a detection threshold. Application to the processing of information, in optical fibre/electronic circuit interfaces. <IMAGE>
