PURPOSE:To prevent breakdown of a tool in case of rough working of a material, and to obtain a coordinate meauring instrument which is capable of offering an optimum working path, by detecting the moment a moving coordinate detector press-contacts with an object to be measured, and controlling a movement of the detector to the next measuring position. CONSTITUTION:A coordinate detector 12 moved from a position B0 press-contacts with an object to be measured 10 at a position B1, etc., and coordinates of the object to be measured 10 are stored in a storage device 22 through an A/D converter 14 and X and Z counters 16, 18, etc. When an analog value outputted by the detector 12 in the Z axis direction in the moment of this press-contact is applied, a mode discriminator 19 for discriminating a mode signal of a mode setting device 40 is activated, it is controlled through a controllng device 20 that the detector 12 is saved vertically in the upper direction and is moved to the next measuring point. As a result of the same iteration, the object to be measured 10 is measured, and a tool for rough working of a material is numerically controlled. Accordingly, since force in the lateral direction is not put on, breakdown of a tool is prevented in case of rough working, and it is possible to obta in a coordinate measuring instrument which is capable of offering an optimum working path to the tool. |
