PURPOSE:To reduce the power loss in a reactive power compensator by providing a transformer with an on-load tap changer in the higher order of a phase advancing capacitor of the reactive power compensator. CONSTITUTION:A transformer 7 with an on-load tap changer is provided in the higher order of a fixed phase advancing capacitor 2 in a reactive power compensator 1. When the load is light for a long time, the leading reactive power of the capacitor 2 is reduced correspondingly to the load by tap switching, and a compensating reactor 3, a thyristor switch 4, a thyristor control circuit 5, and an arithmetic circuit 6 are used to control the delay reactive power of a reactive power generating lead 8 in accordance with this reduction. Thus, the power loss in the reactive power compensator 1 is reduced without degrading the reactive power compensating function. |
