A chair consists of a frame on which a seat (12) and back support (16) are located. The seat (12) and back (16) are formed in a one-piece shell. In front of the shell and integral with it are two bow shaped elastic legs (22, 24). The seat is supported by straight elements (30, 32) which rest along the floor and are angled backwards from the leg base. The supporting straight elements (30, 32) are also angled to the floor at the rear end to form diagonal supports (36) which locate in sockets (44) on the frame (22, 24). Flat elements (48, 52) added to the seat (12) and back support (16) and attached by means of spigots (46, 50). The shell (12, 16) can be swung backwards or forwards about an axis through the leg suporting sockets (44). During the swinging movement the legs (22, 24) act as a spring. USE/ADVANTAGE - As a chair with a see-saw action having an optically balanced and expressive appearance. The tilting action is achieved by simple means.
