<p>PURPOSE:To accomplish low power consumption by forming a heater electrode on the substrate of a display electrode and connecting it to a gate electrode line. CONSTITUTION:The heater electrode 4 is formed on the substrate of the display electrode 6. The heater electrode 4 is positioned under the display electrode 6 and one terminal of the heater electrode 4 is connected to a gate electrode line, then another terminal is connected a common terminal. For example, the heater electrode 4 is formed under the display electrode 6 in parallel with the gate electrode line 2. When potential at low level is impressed on the com mon terminal of the heater electrode 4, a current flows in the heater electrode 4 and liquid crystal is heated to act to a luminous flux while the gate electrode line 2 is at high level. While the gate electrode line 2 is at low level, both ends of the heater electrode 4 get at the same potential and the current does not flow, so that heat is not generated. Thus, effective driving becomes possible and the low power consumption is accomplished.</p> |
