The lens (L) has an ellipsoidal outward-facing surface (A) with its minor semi-axis (C1) at right angles to the photosensitive surface (I) of the electro-optical converter (W). The ellipsoidal hollow space (H) within the body of the lens (L) has its major semi-axis (C2) aligned with the axis of symmetry (S). A hollow cylindrical projection (F) from the back of the lens (L), around the converter (W), is mfd. with the lens in one piece. ADVANTAGE - Simple and inexpensive device collects light from very wide angle onto the photosensitive surface with min. dipersion of incident angles.
