<p>A procedure and appts. for the automatic manufacture of ornamental chains with figure-eight links, e.g. for necklaces, bracelets and belts, uses a metal wire wound into an oval-section spiral. Each coil of the spiral is cut through separately to form an oval link with open ends, which is fitted onto the preceding link of the chain, has its ends joined together and is then twisted into a figure eight. The machine on which the chain is made has one clamp (30) which takes each link in turn, while a second clamp (40), mounted on a horizontal rotary shaft (43) twists the open link to being its ends together and then shape it into a figure eight.</p> |
