METHOD AND DEVICE FOR MANUFACTURE OF AMORPHOUS AND MONOCRYSTAL METAL STRIPS

The method and the device can be applied in foundries. It offers the possibility to control the thickness of the longitudinal and transverse profile of the metal strip during the casting process. By this method the molten metal is fed under pressure through a nozzle upon a rotating cooling surface and before it reaches that surface the metal passes through a transversal magnetic field. The distribution of the intensity of the magnetic field along the width of the nozzle corresponds to the desired transversal profile and the intensity of the magnetic field changes in time by a law- to the desired longitudinal profile of the metal strip being manufactured. The device includes a hermetically sealed vessel for metal melting (1) with a nozzle (3) against which a rotating cooling body (4) is situated. In the zone of the nozzle (3) an electromagnetic system is installed which consists of a magnetic pipeline (5) from magnetic soft material and an excitation coil (6) which is connected to a source of regulated voltage (7) connected to a control circuit (8). In a version of the device the magnetic pipeline (5) is made of profiled pole terminals (9).
