PURPOSE:To increase the processing speed of a hierarchical processor by connecting circularly plural processors via a circular pipeline and connecting these loops of processors to each other via the shared memories. CONSTITUTION:The CPU 1 - 14 and shared memories CM1 - 7 connected to each loop transfer and receive the instructions and data and have parallel accesses to each other with plural tokens circulating the circular pipelines 1 - 5. At the same time, the CPUs and shared memories set on a certain loop perform the transfer and reception of instructions and data and have parallel accesses to the CPUs and data set on a higher or lower rank loop via the tokens circulating on both circular pipelines and a specific shared memory. In other words, plural tokens circulate the pipelines 1 - 5 at one time and take part in the accesses given among those CPUs and shared memories. Thus a transmission line is never occupied unlike the conventional cases. As a result, the bus availability is improved and the processing speed is increased for a ring-shaped hierarchical multiprocessor. |
