Described is a ventilation device for the fuel tank (10) of an internal-combustion engine, comprising an activated-charcoal filter (17, 18) through which the fuel tank is ventilated. While the engine is off, the filter (17, 18) absorbs the fuel which evaporates in the tank (10). While the engine is running, the filter (17, 18) is regenerated by passing air through it. To keep the amount of air required for the filter regeneration low, the filter is divided into two parts, (17, 18), the volume of the first part (17) being such that, while the engine is off, it reaches a high level of loading. A diffusion-blocking connection between the two parts (17, 18) of the filter prevents the second part (18) of the filter from absorbing fuel vapour until the first part (17) has become saturated. |
