Rubber mixt. (I) comprises (1) 100 pts.wt. base rubber consisting of copolymer(s) with 10-45 wt.% unsatd. acrylonitrile units (AN), up to 20 wt.% conjugated diene units and 30-90 wt.% of an ethylenic monomer unit other than AN and/or a hydrogenated conjugated diene unit in the polymer chain, (2) 5-30 pts.wt. of a triallyl isocyanurate cpd., (3) 0.1-15 pts.wt. organic sulphur cpd. or sulphur donor and (4) 1-15 pts.wt. organic peroxide. Pref. (1) is (a) a hydrate of acrylonitrile-butadiene (AB) rubber, acrylonitrile-isoprene (AI) rubber or ABI rubber, (b) A-B-methyl acrylate rubber or A-B-acrylate rubber or a hydrate thereof, (c) A-ethylene-B rubber, A-butyl acrylate-ethoxyethyl acrylate-vinyl chloroacetate rubber or A-butyl acrylate-ethoxyethyl acrylate-norbornene rubber or a hydrate thereof, (2) is a cpd. of formula (II), (3) is a 6-R-2,4-dimercapto-1,3,5-triazine and (4) is dicumyl peroxide, 1,3-bis(tert.-butylperoxy-isoproyl) benzene (IV) and/or 4,4-di-tert.-butylperoxy-n-butyl valerate. USE/ADVANTAGE - For the prodn. of piping, tyres, rollers, belts, etc. in which the rubber is combined with metal wire reinforcement esp. brass. (I) has good elasticity, good heat- and oil-resistance, and good adhesion to brass (contact prior-art peroxide-vulcanised H-NBR mixts.). A pipe is claimed, comprising an inner layer of (I) (single- or several-ply) and an outer reinforcing layer of metal wire with high pressure resistance, coated with a Cu-Zn alloy, pref. the pipe has an outer covering layer (esp. of chloroprene rubber, chlorosulphonated rubber or chlorinated polyethylene rubber), pref. running peripherally over the reinforcement.
