<p>A lithium battery comprises a cathode and an electrolyte and a lithium-based anode of aluminium or an aluminium alloy having an average grain size not greater than 5-10 microns. The anode may be of the class known as the 255 alloys or may be AlTiB grain refiner or a superplastic alloy. The anode may be annealed or chemically or electrochemically pretreated to remove a surface oxide layer.</p> |
