<p>New mixed acyl metal alcholates of formula: Me1Me2(OR)x(Ac)y (where Me' is Na, Li, K, Mg, Ca, Zn, Cu, Ni or Co, Me2 is Al, Sb, Ti, Sn, or Zr, Or is an alcholate residue of 1-18 carbon atoms and Ac is a monobasic organic acid residue of 1-22 carbon atoms and x >=2 and y >=1 and x + y together make up the valencies of the metals Me' and Me2), are obtained by reacting anhydrous metal salts of organic acids with metal alcoholates in an inert solvent, eg. anhydrous alcohol, hydrocarbon or dimethylformamide. The products are useful as thickeners for paints and lubricants.</p> |
