PURPOSE: To obtain a stabilizer composition useful for medicines and cosmetics, etc., and capable of imparting stability against bacterial contamination without adverse effect by containing specific amounts of a water soluble salt of carboxylic acid and an alkylolated urea having a heterocyclic ureide-substituted group. CONSTITUTION: This composition contains a synergistically stabilizing amount of (A) a water soluble salt of carboxylic acid and (B) an effective amount of alkylolated urea having a heterocyclic ureide-substituted group or (C) an interacting product of the components A and B as active components. A composition containing A: a sodium salt and/or potassium salt of benzoic acid and B: diazolidinylurea and/or imidazolidinylurea of formula II in a weight ratio (A/B) of (0.5/1) to (1/0.5), especially (1/1) is especially desirable. An adding amount of the composition to an aqueous system composition is 0.05-2wt.%, especially 0.2-0.5wt.%. |
