PURPOSE:To prolong the life of a die without using cooling water and to give excellent wear resistance and heat cracking characteristic by specifying the contents of C, Si, Mn, Ni, Cr, Mo, V, Cu in the composition of the die and the thermal shock factor. CONSTITUTION:The chemical composition by weight % of a width sizing die for a hot slab is composed of 0.1-0.5% C, 0.1-1.5% Si, 0.2-1.5% Mn, <=5.0% Ni, 0.5-5.0% Cr, <=1.5% Mo, <=1.0% V, <=0.2% Cu, the balance Fe and inevitable impurities. An adequate heattreatment, etc., are given to this die to make the thermal expansion coefficient K at 600 deg.C take >=75. The thermal expansion coefficient is obtained by the formula. Since this due excells in wear resistance and heat cracking characteristic, it can be used for a long time of period without cooling such as watering, etc., and this manufacturing method can contribute to the improvement of the efficiency for sizing the slab width. |
