Appts. for determining the compactability of loose material such as moulding sand, construction and refractory material comprises three cylindrical cases. The outer case (1) has an access hole (13), the middle case is perforated and the inner case (4) is made of elastic material, pref. rubber. A ring gap (3) is present between the outer and middle casings. Alternatively two casings may be used with the outer casing having interconnected circular grooves and the inner casing made of rubber. The top of the appts. has a ring plate (5) and the bottom a ring plate (6) which provide support surfaces for a closure plate (10) and rotating plate (12) respectively. The distance covered by the piston creating the pressure in the gap (3) acts as the parameter for determining the compactability of the material. ADVANTAGE - Enables automatic measuring of the compactability of loose material of any consistency in a short time at low cost and minimal wear to appts.. |
