<p>An effluent gas scrubbing system (10) having an inlet system (14) includes a wet-walled transition tube (24) having lower interface opening (40) for directing particulate carrying gas into a mist saturated scrubber chamber (12), a fluid reservoir (22) at the upper portion of transition tube (24) having a plurality of fluid supply jets (32) tangentially positioned along internal cavity forming walls of reservoir (22) causing swirling of the fluid within internal cavity (34), and a readily interchangeable dry-walled gas inlet pipe (18) coaxially positioned within cavity (34) creating a transition gap (33) between tube (24) and pipe (18) through which the swirling fluid exits the cavity and enters the upper portion of transition tube (24) to thoroughly coat the entire length of tube (24) with fluid, and to provide a smooth and abrupt transition between dry-walled inlet pipe (18) and wet-walled transition tube (24).</p> |
