The telephone distribution frame 11 according to the invention is characterised in that it is provided with a central supervisor which controls a collection of robots which provide automatic insertion and removal of the jumpers 6 and maintenance operations. The robots consist of two lateral tool-holder carriages which move along each of the faces of the distribution frame whilst horizontal shuttles 10 and vertical shuttles 9 move inside the latter to provide for the automatic running of the jumpers 6. <IMAGE>
