PURPOSE:To charge a steel slab into a heating furnace in a short time without developing any flaw by detecting position of the charged, steel slab with sensors arranged at between conveying roller table and inlet for charging in the heating furnace and executing correction of tip position of a ram. CONSTITUTION:The charging steel slab 12 conveyed on the conveying roller table 9 is charged into the heating furnace 10 through a charging door 16 with a charger providing the ram 1 crossing at the right angle to the above table 9 and waiting at the lower part thereof and arranged on the walking beam skid 11. In the above steel slab charging method, the sensors 17 for detecting the steel slab crossing at the right angle to the charging axis X-X are arranged between the table 9 and the charging door 16. By this method, the actual measured steel slab width is detected from front and back end positions of the charging steel slab 12. Position of the ram 1 is calculated from ram tip position obtd. from this actual measured steel slab width and the steel slab width data. Based on this calculated result, the correction of the tip position is executed. By this method, the steel slab 12 can be efficiently charged into the heating furnace 10 without coming into collision with the steel slab 18 in the furnace and without developing any flaw in the charged steel slab 12. |
