Potentiometric cell - with oxygen ion conductive solid electrolyte for gas analysis

Solid electrolyte cells are used for gas analysis by passing a current proportional to the cell potential through a potentiometer to a compensating recorder. The potentiometer is adjusted to interchangeable scales on the recorder at a constant arbitrary cell temp. by a pure gas introduced in the cell as the gas to be analysed or at constant voltage source inserted instead of the cell potential. The recorder is set by varying the potentiometer to the known compsn. when a know gas is used or to the voltage marked on the scale for the temp. concerned when a constant voltage source is used.
