PURPOSE:To efficiently produce foam of phenol resin by using a specific fluorinated hydrocarbon having the same excellent characteristics as those of conventional fluorocarbon free from problem of ozone layer destruction as essential component. CONSTITUTION:(A) 100 pts.wt. phenol resin, preferably resol type phenol resin is blended with (B) preferably 1-50 pts.wt. one or more fluorinated hydrocarbons shown by formula I (a+b+c=3, x+y+z=3; a+x>=1) or formula II (a'+b'=3; m'+n'=2; x'+y'=3; b'+n'+y'>=1) such as 3,3-dichloro-1,1,1,2,2- pentafluoropropane, (C) 1-40 pts.wt. curing agent (e.g. hydrochloric acid or toluenesulfonic acid), (D) a foam stabilizer (e.g. sorbitan monostearate) and optionally another blowing agent, expanded at normal temperature or under heating and cured to give foam. |
