PURPOSE:To obtain a recording material which has characteristic of high coloring properties, fresh preservation and recorded image preservation capabilities by using at least, the selected one kind of salicylic acid derivative or its popyvalent metallic salts as a coloring agent. CONSTITUTION:A coloring agent which colors through the contact between a colorless or pale basic dye and a basic dye is used for a recording material which makes use of the coloring reaction of the agent. The coloring agent is at least the one selected kind of a salicylic acid derivative or its polyvalent matallic salts represented by formula (1). In the formula, R1 is a divalent group containing at least, one heteroatom; R2, R3 are a hydrogen atom, an alkyl group, a cycloalkyl group, an alkenyl group, an aralkyl group, an allyl group, an alkoxyl group, an allyloxy group, a nitro group or a halogen atom respectively; l, m are an integer of 1 to 3 respectively. The preferable salicylic acid deriva tive or polyvalent metallic salt represented by the formula (1) is the divalent, trivalent or quadrivalent metal. Especially zinc, calcium, aluminum, magnesium, tin or iron is highly recommended. |
