Bag manufacturing machine having a device for folding a strip of packing material longitudinally, two heat sealing tongs which are mounted on carriages moving alternately backwards and forwards and alternately grip the strip and provide it with transverse weld seams, and having in addition a pair of conveyor rollers downstream from the carriages for the insertion of the heat sealed package strip in a cutting device for subdividing it into the individual bags, the special features being (a) take-off platens are arranged on each of the two carriages in addition to the heat sealing tongs, and are closed at least during the motion of the carriages towards the cutting device, (b) the operating unit for the heat-sealing tongs is provided with time-dependent switches which reopen the heat sealing platens at a specific time interval after the start of closure, independently of the duration of closure of the take-off platens, (c) the transfer unit downstream of the cutter, for the individual bags is constructed as a transverse conveyor and is followed by a double track longitudinal conveyor parallel with the direction of motion of the carriages, with oppositely situated pairs of grippers the distance apart of which in the region of the known bag-opening and filling equipment arranged along the longitudinal conveyor, is temporarily reduced. |
