PURPOSE:To produce the subject fiber having high cross-linking density and capable of giving an activated carbon fiber having high adsorption capacity, at a low temperature, by melt-spinning a phenolic resin and curing the fiber in the presence of a curing catalyst under pressure using formalin as a crosslinking agent. CONSTITUTION:The objective fiber is produced by melt-spinning a phenolic resin and curing the obtained fiber under pressure in the presence of a curing catalyst (e.g. hexamine or sulfuric acid) using formalin as a crosslinking agent. The curing treatment is carried out preferably at <=120% under a pressure of >=5kg/cm<2>. |
