The method is for cooling a drink, such as whisky, without adding ice directly to the whisky, so that the drink is not diluted with the water formed from the thawing of the ice. The whisky is cooled by packing ice in plastics so that the ice is completely sealed from the whisky. The plastics packing may be designed for once only use or it may be designed for repeated re-use. The packing may be filled with water which is then frozen or with cooling medium which can be cooled below water freezing point.
