PURPOSE:To take more effective measures when toner empty is detected by providing a first detecting means detecting the toner empty of a developer and a second detecting means detecting that a front cover related to toner replenishment is opened and closed. CONSTITUTION:A toner receiver 31 is provided with the toner empty sensor (first detecting means) 36 detecting whether a toner bottle 32 runs out of supply toner. When the detecting means 36 detects toner empty toner supply is promoted. On the other hand, operation is controlled so that printing is not performed while a developing unit runs out of toner. The interior of the front cover 33 is provided with the cover opening sensor (second detecting means) 35. When the front cover is opened or closed after toner empty is detected, image formation is carried out a certain number of times less than a prescribed number of times. At this time, a counter is reset. Consequently, an appropriate number of sheets are set, whereby toner empty is again detected to prevent trouble from toner empty. |
