PURPOSE: To permit simple and low-cost manufacturing with a wave gear device in which a diaphragm is machined to a thickness half the uniform thickness and teeth are machined at the periphery of an open end of a strain gear blank. CONSTITUTION: A strain gear blank is formed on a deflection spline in the form of a cylindrical cup having a closed end through a deep drawing process, and the deflection spline is given a constant wall thickness substantially. Then the closed end or the whole diaphragm 35 is machined by a lathe, etc., into a thickness T approx. half the original blank. The diaphragm 35 is puched or machined by a bolt circle, and a pilot diameter 32 and hole 34 are formed as a mounting means for the spline. The deflection spline is trimmed into the desired length L in axial direction, and external teeth 20 may be formed by molding or machining in the part near the open end of the blank. |
