PURPOSE:To obtain the light absorptive fiber which has characteristics of a narrow line absorptive width and has the excellent optical coupling properties with a semiconductor laser or the like and stability by providing a hollow part in a core part or a clad part adjacent to the core and sealing gas contg. a specific gaseous mixture into the hollow part. CONSTITUTION:The hollow part 11 is provided in the core part 12 of the optical fiber consisting of the core part 12 and the clad part 13 and the gas contg. the gaseous mixture composed of the gas having the strong light absorptive characteristics in the wavelength range of 0.3 to 3.0mum light and an inert gas is sealed into this hollow part 11. The gases formed by mixing >=1 kinds of ammonia, acetylene, methane, carbon dioxide or the like and >=1 kinds of unit gases, such as helium, neon, argon are used as the gas having the light absorptive characteristics. The light waves propagating in the core part 12 bleed out into the hollow part 11 so that the direct interaction of the gas in the hollow part 11 and the propagated light is enabled. The light absorptive fiber having the sharp light absorptive characteristics and the excellent stability is thus obtd. |
