An absorbent textile fabric including hydrophilic textile fibres comprises a non-woven web needle punched with between 5 and 90 punches per cm<2>. Preferably the fabric comprises a blend of hydrophilic textile fibres and other textile fibres which are thermoplastic and at least partially melt at a temperature at which the said hydrophilic fibres remain intact. Use of such a low density of needle punching can provide increased liquid retention capacity in the non-woven fabric. |
