In a device for operating pivotable and/or displaceable body parts on motor vehicles, with a grip part (1) movable through an orifice in the body part between two end positions and lockable in the end positions, with a cover part (2) closing the orifice of the body part in one end position of the grip part (1), and with a drive (3) for moving the grip part (1) and the cover part (2), which is controllable by a lock of the motor vehicle, the grip part (1) and cover part (2) being designed separately from one another, and the grip part and cover part describing different paths of movement when they move, the grip part and/or the cover part, when they move, execute a combined pivoting and lifting movement. The purpose of this is to provide a device which can be used for the range of movement of the grip part (1) and/or of the cover part (2) even under confined installation conditions and in confined space.
